We're proud to be the first Jamaican café inside Kingston's VIA Rail station. At 1800 John Counter Boulevard, Stuff It Up is giving travellers, commuters and Kingston locals a new place to pause for bold food and genuine café warmth.

This moment is bigger than opening another place to eat. It brings Jamaican food and culture into a space where people from across Ontario, Québec and beyond cross paths every day. It is a milestone for Stuff It Up, but it also carries meaning for the Jamaican community: our flavours, creativity and hospitality now have a home at one of the city's most visible points of arrival.

A station shaped by Kingston's history

Kingston's relationship with passenger rail reaches back to the earliest years of Canada's railway age. The Grand Trunk Railway route through the city opened in 1856, connecting communities along the Toronto–Montréal corridor. Kingston's original Outer Station, built from local limestone, became an important stop on that line and served generations of passengers.

As the city and the railway changed, service moved to the present John Counter Boulevard station in 1974. Today, it remains a busy point on VIA Rail's Québec City–Windsor Corridor, linking Kingston with Toronto to the west and Ottawa and Montréal to the east. Every arrival brings new faces into Kingston; every departure carries a small impression of the city outward.

Stuff It Up is proudly rooted in Jamaican flavour, but it is also a complete café. The menu is built around the different rhythms of a day at the station. Early travellers can start with a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Lunchtime guests can choose from Jamaican patties, the fully loaded Stuff Patty, deli sandwiches, samosas and bagels. Hot and cold drinks make the café an easy place to pause, whether the next train leaves in ten minutes or there is time to settle in.

That variety matters because the station does not belong only to people passing through. It is also part of Kingston's daily life.
